LG V30 Screen and Digitizer Replacement Guide

Step 1 - Before You Start The Repair

  • Power off the phone

  • Remove the SIM-tray

  • Warning: Before you start the repair, discharge the LG V30 battery below 25%. Battery can catch fire and explode if punctured accidentally

Step 2 - Remove The Back Cover

  • Apply heat to the edges of a back panel to soften the adhesive that holds it

  • Insert the flat metal opening tool between the back cover and the frame and lift the back cover slightly

  • Insert 2 guitar picks into the gap

  • Slide the picks along the edges in opposite directions to brake the glue

  • Separate the back cover from the rest of the device

  • Warning: Be careful with the heat gun, you may overheat the motherboard or the battery.

Step 3 - Remove The Wireless Charging Module & The Loudspeaker

  • Unscrew the 10 screws that are holding the plastic housing

  • Remove the loudspeaker

  • Remove the wireless charging receiver

Step 4 - Unplug The Battery And Other Flex Cable Connectors

  • Disconnect the battery flex cable

  • Disconnect the main camera flex cable

  • Disconnect the digitizer flex cable

  • Disconnect the front camera flex cable

  • Disconnect the display flex cable

  • Disconnect the charging port flex cable

  • Warning: The battery should always be disconnected first. Use only plastic tools to disconnect the battery.

Step 5 - Remove The Motherboard

  • Remove the motherboard form the front panel assembly

  • Pry the motherboard up gently with a nylon spudger to release it from the clips that are holding it

  • Warning: Caution is advised, you should start removing the board from the top, and be gentle, the PCB boards are brittle and can brake.

Step 6 - Transfer Parts To The New Front Panel Assembly

  • Remove the battery by gently prying it up

  • Remove the vibration motor

  • Remove the front camera module

  • Put the battery into the new front panel assembly

  • Put the vibration motor into the new front panel assembly

  • Put the front camera module into the new front panel assembly

  • Info: This front panel assembly has the earpiece, the microphone, the charging port and the earpiece pre-installed.

  • Warning: Pay attention not to puncture the battery while removing it. Also try not to damage other vital parts while transferring them to the new display assembly.

Step 7 - Put The Motherboard Into The New Front Panel Assembly

  • Place the motherboArd into the new front panel assembly

  • Use the nylon spudger to gently press the board against the pins in the assembly

  • Warning: Caution is advised, you should start inserting the board from the bottom, and be gentle, the PCB boards are brittle and can brake. Never use metal tools with the motherboard, use only plastic and anti-static tools.

Step 8 - Connect All The Flex Cable Connectors

  • Connect the display flex cable

  • Connect the charging port flex cable

  • Connect the front camera flex cable

  • Connect the digitizer flex cable

  • Connect the main camera flex cable

  • Connect the battery flex cable

  • Info: Connect the flex cables in reverse order of when you disconnected them.

  • The battery should always be connected last. Use only plastic tools to connect the battery.

Step 9 - Reinstall The Wireless Charging Module & The Loudspeaker

  • Place the middle plastic cover with the wireless charging module on top of the motherboard and gently press around the edges to secure it

  • Place the the loud speaker onto the bottom part of the motherboard

  • After you make sure that everything is in its place, secure everything with the 10 Phillips-head screws

Step 10 - Clean The Back Cover From The Old Glue Residue

  • Remove the old glue residue from the back cover

  • Clean the back cover before the reassembly

Step 11 - Reinstall The Back Cover

  • Apply some B-7000 glue to the edges of the metal frame

  • Position the back cover on top of the frame

  • Put some clamps to ensure better adhesion, remove them after the glue dries

  • Info: Allow glue to dry for 48 hours, cure time increases with lower temperatures and decreases with higher temperatures.

  • Warning: B-7000 hardens by solvent evaporation and forms an immediate bond that is difficult to reposition after both adhesive-coated surfaces are placed in contact with each other and sufficient pressure is exerted to establish full contact.

Step 12 - Test The Phone

  • Turn-on the LG V30 to test the screen

  • The repair is done successfully
